Gold Foil Transfer Labels: Real Metal Finish Without the White Border
If you want a logo that looks like it was stamped from solid gold but sits flush on glass, plastic or coated paper, foil transfer labels are the cleanest route. No white edge. No raised ink. Just a thin metallic film that peels off its liner and bonds to the surface.

What Is a Foil Transfer Label?
A foil transfer label (also called a metal transfer sticker or foil decal) is made from a thin metallic foil face laminated to a pressure-sensitive adhesive and carried on a release liner. You peel the decal from the liner, position it on the product, and rub it down. The foil releases from the carrier and stays on the surface.
The result is a true metallic finish — gold, silver, rose gold, or custom matched — with a mirror-like shine and no visible backing edge. It is not ink printed to look metallic; it is metal foil.

Transfer Foil vs. Printed Metallic Ink
Printed metallic ink can look good under studio lights, but it has limits. It can scratch, it sits on top of the substrate as ink, and it rarely achieves the reflectivity of real foil. It also needs a white under-base on most stocks, which can create a visible halo around fine details.
Real foil transfer labels solve these problems:
- Reflectivity: foil reflects light the way metal does; ink only simulates it.
- No white edge: the decal is die-cut to shape and transferred clear of the liner, so the logo edges disappear into the surface.
- Durability: the foil face is waterproof, oil-resistant and scratch-resistant for indoor and light outdoor use.
- Thickness: much thinner than domed or embossed alternatives, so the surface feels smooth after application.

Where Foil Transfer Labels Work Best
These decals excel anywhere a brand wants a premium metallic mark without the weight or thickness of a traditional label:
- Fragrance & cosmetics boxes — gold script on rigid boxes, tubes or glass bottles.
- Electronics & accessories — small metallic logos on plastic, metal or leather surfaces.
- Glassware & drinkware — branding that survives handling and light washing.
- Gift packaging & premium mailers — metallic seals and monograms that elevate unboxing.
- Stationery & awards — custom foil names and dates on certificates, trophies and notebooks.
How We Make Them
At our Dongguan facility, the process is straightforward but tightly controlled:
- Artwork prep: vector files are converted to a die-line; small text and fine lines are checked for transfer feasibility.
- Foil lamination: metallic foil is laminated to a clear adhesive layer at controlled tension.
- Precision die-cutting: the shape is kiss-cut through the foil and adhesive without cutting into the release liner.
- Weeding & inspection: excess foil is removed and each sheet is checked for clean edges before packing.
Lead time is typically 5–7 working days after artwork approval, with MOQ starting at 500 pcs. Custom samples are available and 100% refundable against bulk orders of $1,000 or more.

Design Tips
For the cleanest transfer, send vector artwork (AI / CDR / SVG). Keep line weights above 0.3 mm and avoid interior cutouts smaller than 2 mm, which can lift during application. If you are applying to a curved surface, tell us the diameter — we can adjust the decal stiffness and adhesive grade.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can foil transfer labels be applied to curved surfaces?
Yes, but the curvature matters. Small decals on gently curved bottles or cylinders work well. Tight diameters may need a softer foil face or a split backing for easier positioning.
Will the metallic color fade over time?
Indoor use holds color for years. For direct sunlight or outdoor exposure, ask about our UV-resistant foil options.
Can I get a sample before ordering?
Yes. Stock samples are free (you cover shipping). Custom samples made with your artwork carry a sample fee that is fully refundable against bulk orders of $1,000 or more.
Do you offer colors other than gold and silver?
Rose gold and champagne are standard alternatives. Other Pantone-matched foil colors are available with a minimum order and may need a longer lead time.
