Product Description
Pick up a premium cosmetic or personal care bottle and the first thing your eye catches is the metallic shimmer on the brand name — gold lettering against a deep background. It looks like hot foil stamping. Most of the time, it isn't. What you're looking at is silver BOPP face stock with a matte laminate overprint.
The effect comes down to three layers working together. First, a silver metallic BOPP film — biaxially oriented polypropylene with a bright metallic coating baked into the material itself. You don't add the shimmer; it arrives with the raw stock. Second, standard CMYK printing lays down your design: solid dark ground colors (forest green, navy, black) go down opaque, while metallic text areas are either left as bare silver or printed with a metallic gold ink. Against a dark ground, bare silver reads as warm gold to the eye. Third, a matte lamination film is applied over everything — it protects the print, gives a soft non-reflective feel, and lets the metallic elements keep shining underneath.
No foil die. No stamping plate. No second pass through the hot foil machine. Just smart material choice and a standard print run doing work that looks like it cost three times as much. - Accepted artwork: vector — AI, CDR, SVG; bitmap — PDF, JPG, PNG. We take both. Vector (AI / CDR / SVG) is preferred for labels with small text, fine lines or logos — they stay crisp at any size. Bitmap (PDF / JPG / PNG) is fine for photo-based or full-bleed designs.
- Resolution & bleed: supply bitmap at 300 DPI or higher, with a 3 mm bleed on every side and text kept at least 4 mm inside the trim.
- Plate / setup fee: a one-time plate or cylinder setup charge applies per design and per process; we confirm the exact amount in your quote.
- Minimum order: standard processes start from 1,000 pcs; dome and sticker runs can go lower. Tell us your target qty and we quote to it.
- Color matching: give us Pantone numbers or a physical sample for accurate matching; we print to your specified spot or process color.
